The theme of this year’s AI Forum presented by C2 Montréal from May 23-25, 2018 was “Taking the next bold step”.
Raymond Chabot Grant Thornton and its subsidiary Catallaxy were proud to be associated with this unique forum that brought together renowned international experts and leaders.
The Challenges of AI
Eric Nguyen, Senior Manager and Leader of the Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Advanced Analytics practice at Raymond Chabot Grant Thornton, Claude Guay, General Manager, IBM Global Business Services Canada and Stephen Piron, CEO, DeepLearni.ng, presented a conference on what can be learned from less-than-glossy AI events. Eric gave three examples of situations where AI did not achieve the expected results. He concluded by explaining that artificial intelligence can only bring added value in resolving business issues if the problem comprises uncertainties and complex elements to be solved in a repetitive process assessed in accordance with clearly defined metrics.
AI in Blockchain
Alexandre Nguyen, Manager, Artificial Intelligence at Raymond Chabot Grant Thornton, led a workshop on the interconnection between blockchain and AI. Going beyond the hype, they described the true possibilities and limitations of these technologies and then discussed with participants realistic situations where these technologies could intersect.
For the time being, it’s not realistic to state that these two technologies align, that they are technologically mature or that the market is ready to use them together. Nevertheless, Catallaxy has already undertaken studies and research to explore these possibilities and gain a clear understanding of these technologies, their possibilities and limitations in their business’s context.
